"Dear mother,
Can you hear me whining?
It's been three whole weeks
Since that I have left your home
This sudden fear has left me trembling
Cause now it seems that I am out here on my own
And I'm feeling so alone"

Character Name: Kadaj
Series: Final Fantasy VII Advent Children
Age: newly 17
Physical Description:
Kadaj has longish silver hair that's jaggedly cut down just past his shoulders. The semi-bangs tend to fall in his face and Kadaj often does little to stop them unless he becomes extremely frustrated, in which case he tends to develop a nervous tic in which he is constantly pushing them back again and again. His eyes are a bright, noticeable teal, and tend to betray every emotion that Kadaj is feeling whether he wants them to or not. His face has a very youthful, even childish roundness to it that makes him appear even younger than he already is. And all in all, Kadaj does look quite young- not only does his face betray this, but the boy stands at only 5'5.5" and is extremely slight and waif-like. Even his swift and precise movements, which often give off a sense of having extra energy to burn, seem to accentuate this.
Kadaj tends to wear blacks, maroons, navy blues, and deep grays, leather obviously a favorite material for him and tightness being a major factor- 'so as not to restrict his movement'. He's not quite as badass-looking as Sephiroth, but black leather jackets seem to be a staple for this kid, as do heavy black combat boots. Thick, silver jewelery also appears to be a favorite, as nobody who knows Kadaj would be surprised to see the occasional dogtag necklace, thick chain-link bracelet, or black spiked collar. Kadaj is also commonly seen wearing a rusty old silver locket, half-broken and on a notably long chain that brings the thing down to the center of his lower chest. When he is not seen wearing this, it is always tucked under his shirt or in a pocket somewhere.
Personality:
Kadaj was the kind of kid who completely owned everyone else at Vampire:The Masquerade, and spent all of his time developing his emo, blood-sucking character... but you could never make fun of him for his anti-social and escapist ways because you were afraid that if you did? He would totally snap and try to suck your blood out himself or something.
Though he can be as malicious and calculating as they come, Kadaj is not the ruthless villain he may appear to be. Not by a long shot. The boy does have a violent streak and blatant disregard for the well-being of anyone he does not personally know, but his impulsiveness and complete subservience to his emotions can definitely play up the evil impression more than it really deserves. Kadaj is also deeply (and even obsessively) loyal and dedicated to those that he loves, the most notable two being his mother and his cousin Sephiroth. Kadaj dotes on his brothers quite a lot as well, but does not romanticize them to such a degree as those two. Kadaj is childish and immature, not to mention completely egocentric. But he would be willing to do anything without a moment's thought, no matter the sacrifice to himself, for the sake of those he really cares for- though the care of Kadaj is quite a thing to obtain. The boy tends to get frustrated and annoyed easily, but when at his angriest he tends to take on a grim, calm rage that is by far scarier than any outburst. Kadaj also has a certain charisma about him, mostly contributable to his natural intellect, knack for words and persuasion, and the fiery passion he has that is painfully obvious in anything he pursues- after all, Kadaj is almost entirely driven by his emotions.
As a youngest child, he was a little spoiled by his brothers in the bossiness department, and tends to feel almost overcome with helplessness when people don't listen to him because it's something he's not used to. And, of course, he will most likely soon become desperate and do whatever it takes to MAKE such a person listen to him, due to his severely underdeveloped senses of morals and realism. Kadaj seems to suffer from a superiority complex (as demonstrated by his need for control and his regular exercising of that control), but his demanding and arrogant streak is truly caused by a severe, deeply rooted inferiority complex (as he is constantly needing to prove to himself that he has and deserves that control). The last thing to note would be that Kadaj is fairly bipolar, and liable to go from one drastic emotion to another at almost any time, given an appropriate trigger. He is extremely moody, and the mood you catch him in can make all the difference between new best friend and new worst enemy.
Strengths:
natural leadership abilities and decent manipulation skills, ability to use a double-bladed sword, insane amount of determination, bookish intelligence
Weaknesses:
almost completely driven by emotions, impulsive, childish and egocentric, major issues with mommy, stubborn
History:
Kadaj's shallow-as-hell parents were on the lower end of the upper class, his beautiful mother Lillie having married from the lower class into some decent money. The arguing began when the twins Loz and Yazoo were born, but when Kadaj's mother announced about six months later that she was pregnant again her husband left her for good. She got more money than she had before the marriage, which was's saying much, but not enough to keep up three children with no income by herself, and so she moved with the children to a small apartment in Nopa. The father wanted nothing to do with them, and she would not even tell her children stories about their father or give them so much as a name.
Lillie had not wanted the kids any more than her husband, to be honest, and was very selfishly bitter at them for ruining her marriage and cutting off her money supply. She spent what money she had left on luxuries for herself, and then used her financial situation as an excuse to easily ship the kids off to the city orphanage in the lower class where her sister's son Sephiroth had already been living for awhile. This happened when Kadaj was only nine years old.
Loz and
Just before Kadaj turned fourteen, he and his brothers were given to a family that was considering adopting the trio and given a customary year-long 'trial period' of a year. Kadaj wasn't willing to connect with the poor would-be parents or even be kind to them, but he tolerated them because they were upper class and spoiled the three. The family tried desperately to get the three to like them, but Kadaj was as cold as ever and was only tolerable because they sensed his dislike and tried to win him over with gifts. This is when
Kadaj threw a fit of epic proportions that his brothers still shudder about when they think of today.
The boy demanded that he not be adopted and refused to live with the family any longer. He stated that he would never live with any 'parents' other than his own biological mother, and so the caretaker of the orphanage contacted Lillie. She basically explained the situation and begged that Lillie give Kadaj one more try, and since Lillie had remarried another wealthy man by that time her previous excuse was done with and she was coerced into accepting. As soon as Kadaj arrived, however, she went off on a tangent to the boy about how she didn't want him and that he had BETTER not ruin her happiness THIS time, and that he should just shut up and make himself as invisible as possible.
Of course, this didn’t go so well with Kadaj. He tried his absolute hardest to please her in everything he did, and nearly became obsessive about gaining her approval. Of course, though, the more he interacted with her (whether good OR bad), the more she pushed him away. Kadaj didn’t know what to do but keep trying harder and harder to make her happy, and it eventually came to the point where, one night when Lillie and her new husband had a particularly bad argument and he began hitting her, Kadaj attacked and nearly killed the man. He was unsuccessful, but did manage to land himself in juvenile hall.
While there, Kadaj hated absolutely hated it. He was antisocial and as depressed as ever, and that was only furthered by the fact that
The only other thing of note that happened during this period of Kadaj’s life (besides picking up some skills that would help him after he got out, when involved with Sephiroth’s gang) was that Kadaj was raped. As a side note Kadaj is gay, but this left him with major issues and negative preconceptions concerning homosexuality, and to this day he tries very hard to be straight. Kadaj was finally let out at seventeen, but still owes a year of regular, fairly heavy community service.
Upon leaving, Kadaj discovered that his brothers were now high-ups in a gang that Sephiroth had started, and although Kadaj had kept in somewhat regular contact with both of his brothers and Sephiroth this was something that obviously could not have been talked through letters or during juvenile hall visits. Kadaj quickly joined, however, and was unpopularly given a second-in-command position right away.
It has been two weeks since he has been let out, and one week since Kadaj joined this gang.
